Dr Teresa Cattin is a Medical Practitioner (BSc, MSc, MBBCh, FRNZCGP) and a member of the Appearance Medicine Society of Australasia. Like many women, Teresa was dissatisfied with the often expensive, over-the-counter skin care products she was buying which did not live up to their claims. These products offered little more than "hope in a jar". Using her scientific knowledge and medical background, Teresa decided to go back to basics.
Her research showed that there was a large gap between what is now known to doctors about skin ageing and the information that cosmetic companies are still passing on to women. In light of modern medical knowledge, the old concept of "cleanse, tone and moisturise" seemed completely out of date. The cosmetic companies appeared to be lagging behind modern medicine regarding skin care treatment.
It also concerned Teresa that most of the over-the-counter products were designed and produced in the Northern Hemisphere and were not particularly well suited for the harsh climatic conditions of New Zealand and Australia.
Teresa knew what was needed to improve her skin and began to gradually develop the products that would achieve the outcome she wanted.
